Shannon has a unique ability to connect with her students and make learning fun. Our son, Brooks, had been working with other reading specialists but we saw limited progress or interest. With Shannon, Brooks is focused and looks forward to his sessions with Shannon. Brooks describes Shannon as fun and helpful. We are so excited to see Brooks' love of reading blossom this year. Many thanks Shannon!

We have known Shannon for 4 years. Our daughter, Gabby, has difficulty with reading comprehension. Shannon has worked with Gabby and due to her weekly tutoring, Gabby is thriving and doing well in school. We are very delighted with Gabby’s progress.

One reason why Shannon is a good tutor is because she explains things when I don’t get something. Another reason why she is a good tutor is because she makes me do better in reading comprehension. My third reason why Shannon is a great tutor is because she is really good at picking out books and passages that help me a lot with reading comprehension. My final reason why Shannon is a great tutor is because she makes learning fun with games that are educational. These are reasons why Shannon is a great tutor!

Working with Shannon was fun.  She is really funny, nice, and kind.  She understands kids and she helped me get better in school.

— Sofia M., student

Why I like working with Shannon is that she really helps me understand stories and standardized testing and she is really good at helping me understand what the language means in the stories we read. It’s also really fun doing games with her after we do the work.

Shannon was a second grade teacher to my two older children, so when it came time to find a tutor for my third child and Shannon’s name was mentioned it was a no brainer for us. Shannon is a wonderful teacher and an excellent tutor. She is very positive and encouraging to our son who falls under the dyslexic umbrella. Shannon has not only helped him reach the class standard she has really helped him improve his self confidence. Shannon has helped turn his introduction to reading into a very pleasant and enjoyable experience. I can’t tell you how grateful we are to Shannon, she not only helps your child but she really puts the big picture into perspective and that is exactly what parents need! Shannon is the BEST!

— Mary R., Grateful mother

I like having Shannon tutor me. She’s fun, nice and lets me play learning games after my lessons.

— Jimmy, 7 year old student

Since my daughter started tutoring with Shannon, her English, spelling and Spanish grades improved from a C to an A+ within 3 months. Now we don’t have any struggle or resistance with her spelling and Spanish homework. That’s like magic.

She seems to have more confidence in herself about how to overcome her challenges. In addition, she enjoys learning and reading more and more. Now we feel like she has a greater advantage than other kids since she’s overcome her struggles since working with Shannon.

Shannon really shares her passion and knowledge about how to help a gifted right brain learner like my daughter excel, and I could not thank her enough.

Shannon is so fun and she always encourages me to learn how to spell better. Even though I might get words wrong a lot, she still has faith in me and continues to support me until I get it right. She teaches me in a fun way and helps to motivate me to do my best.

— K.J., 4th grader

She understands me in depth and respects me even though I have trouble getting spelling words correct. It’s so much fun to learn how to spell and read with her, and I love learning all with Shannon. She is the best teacher I have ever met. She rocks!

— K.J., 4th grader

Shannon has a special ability to connect with Jemima. From the first lesson four years ago, Jemima has really enjoyed working with her, which has led to an increased level of understanding of many subjects that were for one reason or another glossed over or confusing at school. She has been especially patient with Jemima and has become an indispensable part of her learning experience. It is a great relief for a parent to have someone who can skillfully explain to one’s children on a one-on-one basis those things which can seem impossible to understand in the confines of a busy classroom with lots of noise and distractions. We would highly recommend Shannon as a tutor.
